A spring weekend in Wrocław
Warmer days are conducive to intensified outdoor activities in the city. It is the perfect time to admire the astonishing market square, chill out in charming cafés and stroll on the Odra River boulevard. There are plenty of options to chose from. How to spend a spring weekend in Wrocław and its surroundings? Check out events and places suggested by us.
Wrocław by bike
Near Traugutta Apartments you will find many shared bike stations. This is a convenient and pleasant way to get to a park, for example, the Southern Park (Park Południowy) or West Park (Park Zachodni). Here you’ll find the up-to-date map with shared bike stations and the rules of bike rental: https://wroclawskirower.pl/
Every ride of up to 20 minutes is free! Just set up your account and pay a PLN 10 initial fee.
On two wheels you can reach the Centennial Hall (Hala Stulecia), where recurrent events such as food truck reunions, music festivals and flea markets take place. Right next to it, you will find the Four Domes Pavilion (Pawilon Czterech Kopuł) – the most interesting art museum in the area. And from there, it just a stone’s throw to Poland’s largest ZOO!
By bike outside of Wrocław
If you like cycling, Lower Silesia will delight you with its routes! The Barycz Valley and the Milicz Ponds (Stawy Milickie) will appeal to those, who actively spend their time and are not scared of a 80 km ride. You can also take a well-signed Amber Route (Eurovelo 9) from Wrocław to Świdnica. If it turns out to be too far for you, remember that Lower Silesia has an extensive network of railway connections, so you can come back by train to the centre of Wrocław.
Family weekend in Wrocław
Do you know that you can buy an annual pass to the Wrocław ZOO? Believe us, it is a treat not only for families with kids. This oldest zoological garden in Poland has many species under its care, especially some very rare ones. It is home to over 14 thousand animals, which all of you can watch and admire! A day-trip to the ZOO will not be complete without visiting the Africarium, with its flagship attraction – the underwater tunnel from which you can observe freely swimming fish. The oceanarium is unique on a global scale, being the only facility of this kind dedicated exclusively to African fauna.
The Dwarfs of Wrocław
What fun it is to chase dwarfs during your spring weekend in Wrocław. These little inhabitants of the city will point you the way to the most interesting monuments. They will also inspire you to explore important historical figures, and be happy to pose for a photo with you! Do you want to take up the challenge and follow their trail? Visit the Tourist Information Centre in the market square to pick up your map with their hideaways.
Art weekend in Wrocław!
Wrocław has a lot to offer when it comes to art and culture! Do you like music? Explore concerts in Chamber music venues, the Old Monastery or the A2 Concert Centre. Not enough? Music emanates from the Capitol Theatre, the Wrocław Opera and the National Forum of Music. Most of these venues are within walking distance of Traugutta Apartments.
If you prefer visual arts or history – get a special pass to as many as 4 museums. With a ticket to the Panaorama of Racławice you can visit the permanent exhibitions at the National Museum, the Ethnographic Museum and the Four Domes Pavilion of the Museum of Contemporary Art.
Most of these venues are within walking distance of Traugutta Apartments.
A spring weekend in Wrocław will also be a good opportunity to visit local handicraft and design fairs (Ręki Dzieła Fest, Wrocław Fashion Meeting, Good Design Fair), or for a trip to the Książ Castle, where the Flower and Art Festival takes place every year.
Cinema lovers will enjoy screenings at the MDAG – Millennium Docs Against Gravity festival, which takes place regularly in the DCF (Lower Silesia Film Centre) Cinema. There, you will have the chance to see moving documentaries and excellent reportage from around the world. A unique film selection is waiting for you at the New Horizons Cinema. There’s even more to make your weekends and evenings enjoyable – meetings with artists, thematic overviews from various parts of the globe (Asian, Spanish, German) as well as special events.
